Feasts are the center of much medieval reenactments. In our Bozeman chapter we have medieval themed diners based on medieval dishes of Europe and the outremer.Often the day will be filled with archery,Tourney fighting and other games. Later comes dancing, storytelling, music and other activities mixed in with lavish feasts. Often meals will last for hours with exotic and multiple removes (courses).

We use a medieval hall with banners on the walls and the tables are lit up with candlestics and ornate (or humble)table settings depending on the people on their part of the table. Our 12th century tables are 25 feet long and the begining may be covered in ornate brass, gold and silver for the Bishop and his retinue, then go to iron and wood for the less fortunate members down table.

Good starting feast gear is simple, Wooden bowls and plates are always good as are mugs, cups and candlesticks. Your collection of tableware will increase as you learn what is period styled and what is modern. No one expects you to have everything at start. If all you have is glass then bring it, if you have pottery or other items by all means use them. If you have questions just ask a member and they will be glad to help.
